What is IRC and Where Can I Find Undernet #bbw? 
IRC (Internet Relay Chat) provides a way of communicating in real time with people from all over the world. It consists of various separate networks. Each network is composed of several servers that allow users to connect to IRC. The network we operate on is called Undernet. Generally, the user (you) runs a program (called a client) to connect to a server on one of the IRC networks.Once connected to a server on a network, you will usually join one or more channels (other programs might call these "rooms") and converse with others there. You have the option to converse with everyone on a channel or in private with one person whether they are in a channel or not. You can get more information about IRC and Undernet on their website. The most commonly used client for accessing IRC is mIRC. Browse around their site to find out more about the program. Other programs used are pirch and ircle (for Mac users).
